European Heritage Days
Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21
A European initiative born in France
Since 1984, the Ministry of Culture has invited the French to discover or rediscover the riches of French heritage.
In 1991, the Council of Europe formalized the European Heritage Days. In 1992, in France, the successful day then transformed into an entire weekend. 50 European countries are currently participating.
All heritage is honored, whether artistic, archaeological, industrial, agricultural, river or even military..
Quelque 17 000 lieux et plus de 20 000 animations (conférences, concerts ou encore ateliers) sont proposés aux visiteurs. Des initiatives aussi bien publiques que privées.
SIf public buildings can open free of charge for this occasion, it is not the same for private monuments which can only be maintained thanks to your participation as visitors.
La Roche Courbon therefore offers a special rate to allow many of you to come and rediscover this unique regional heritage in Charente Maritime.
The site will be open continuously on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, 2024, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. with the possibility of eating on site at the Relais de Romette.
For families, old games and game booklets will allow you to have fun on the site while learning the history of the castle and gardens. A walk, complete with explanatory panels, to the prehistoric caves will allow you to understand the history and evolution of the site during the time of Neanderthals..
